'Next Music' Progam

The Irving Symphony Orchestra Association [ISOA] has established the 'Next Music' program as an outgrowth of its commitment to music education and its aspiration to engage next generations to experience, appreciate and participate in making great music. The ISOA collaborates with the Irving Independent School District and other area schools to produce a variety of transformative education initiatives within the 'Next Music' program. Among them are the annual 'Concerts 4 Kids.' Each year the Irving Symphony Orchestra produces 4 free concerts designed to engage, educate and inspire every 5th and 7th grade student in the Irving Independent School District, representing more than 5600 young hearts and minds. These remarkable concerts combine live symphonic masterworks and recent film score selections with artfully choreographed and projected local student art work fitting each year's theme. 'Music N Motion' is another key component of the ISO's 'Next Music' initiatives and targets predominantly disadvantaged 3rd and 4th grade classrooms for instrument demonstrations, live music presentations and student-to- artist Q&A.

In the months ahead, the ISO is exploring new grass roots connections with other schools outside the Irving Independent School District with tentative plans for chamber concert presentations, high school master classes and music roundtables between student and professional ISO musicians.
